Home of the Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and the National Theater of Scotland, as well as some of the best concert venues, Glasgow has fostered talent from musicians to film and television stars.

Glasgow is home to many celebrities, some of whom have reached heights of fame, and have truly made a name for themselves.

Lauren Kelly

Lauren Kelly, known simply as Lauren due to her show hosted since 2010, has also hosted several other shows including Daybreak, This Morning, Good Morning Britain, GMTV, and more.

In 2021, she was awarded the Central Bank of Egypt for her services in broadcasting, journalism and charities.

Despite being known for living in Dundee, Lauren was born in Glasgow and lived in the city until she moved to East Kilbride where she attended high school.

Graham McTavish

The 61-year-old is best known for his roles in the Hobbit film trilogy, portraying Dracula in the Netflix animated series Castlevania and Dougal Mackenzie in Outlander.

In 2020, McTavish, along with his Outlander co-star Sam Heughan, attempted writing that proved to be a booming success, as their book Clandlands: Whiskey, War, and Unparalleled Scottish Adventure It reached number one on the New York Times Best Sellers list.

Mactavish was born in Glasgow and lived in the city as a child, before going away. He now lives in New Zealand.

Kevin Bridges

Kevin Bridges is a Scottish comedian who has also appeared on several television shows as a speaker on shows such as The Big Fat Quiz of the Year and Comic Relief.

Frankie Boyle

Born in Polokshaw, Boyle is a comedian who appears frequently on shows such as Mock The Week, hosted by Dara O’Brien.

Its content can be considered somewhat controversial, but it still has its own campaign titled “Frankie Boyle’s New World Order” since 2017.

Gordon Ramsay

A TV personality for over a decade now, Ramsay has been featured on multiple occasions for his rants, mostly on his popular show ‘Hell’s Kitchen’.

Despite having a clear English accent, Ramsay was born in Johnston, and had experiments with Rangers when he was young.

Billy Connolly

Sir William Connolly CBE, better known as Billy Connolly, is an actor, retired comedian, artist, and more. He has appeared in films such as The Hobbit, Mrs Brown, and Quartet.

In 2017, Connolly was knighted at Buckingham Palace, just weeks after his 75th birthday.

Ruby Coltrane

Coltrane is best known for portraying Rubus Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series, and also gained fame as Valnetin in the James Bond films Golden Eye and The World Is Not Enough.

James McAvoy

A brilliant acting resume, McAvoy has appeared in Chronicles of Narnia, X-Men, and Deadpool.

He enjoyed a slight surge in popularity on the UK show Shameless, before starring alongside Angelina Jolie in Wanted, and the hit movie Split in 2016.

Lewis Capaldi

The Scottish singer rose to fame in 2019, with his hit song Someone You Loved reaching number one on the UK singles chart, staying there for seven weeks.

He also performed well internationally, reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100, and was nominated for a Grammy Award. The song won the 2020 Brit Award for Song of the Year, and on the same night, he won Best New Artist.

Sir Alex Ferguson

Former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson.

Football icon in every sense of the word. He won the European Cup with Aberdeen before embarking on his 26-year career at Old Trafford, winning the Champions League twice and 13 Premier League titles with United.

He oversaw Class 92 and bought Cristiano Ronaldo to the Premier League from Sporting Lisbon.

Gerard Butler

Born in Paisley, Butler has enjoyed an impressive career. He arguably got his big break in the 2009 film Law Abiding Citizen before starring in the 2010 film The Bounty Hunter alongside buddy icon Jennifer Aniston.

Since then, he has appeared in ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ before starring in two subsequent films.

The 52-year-old is rumored to have a net worth of around $40 million.
