Daniel Beckett

AFi founder and editor-in-chief Daniel “Julius Marx” Beckett has been in business his whole life. The first line he ever collected was Mego’s Greatest Super Heroes line in the 1970s. It has been surrounded by collectibles ever since. In 1999, he was confused by the lack of information and news about some of his favorite toy lines that he was collecting. Since he could not find the information, he decided to follow it himself thinking that others might also be interested in the same news. He started writing a weekly column on the gaming industry and movement personality for the gaming news site, and within years, tripled the sites’ daily visits with his updates, reviews, and product features. He established relationships with every major toy manufacturer and many sculptors, painters and mold makers. He has developed his hobby into a global experience that has been embraced by the industry. In 2004, he teamed up with his game friend Jason “ToyOtter” Geyer and created their own website www.ActionFigureInsider.com. Daniel has been cited in both industry and media outlets. Over the years, Daniel and AFi have been sought after as experts in this field. Daniel appears regularly on G4’s “Attack of the Show” as a primary contributor to the “Mint On Card” segment, and our Pop Candy blog front page on USA Today has been linked twice. Daniel’s content has also been featured on Bloomberg News, MSNBC.com, Time.com, The Wall Street Journal, The Saturday Evening Post, CNN.com, AssociatedPress.com Wired.com, Fark.com, Boing-Boing, Gizmodo.com, Ain’t It Cool News, Official Star Wars Blog, Geekologie, G4, CNet, Toy Fare Magazine, and many more. He has consulted on games, books, documentaries and TV shows. But it all sounds really arrogant and “blows its own horn” – long and short is that Daniel loves games and loves to talk about them.
