In two minutes, Feyenoord 3-2 Marseille

Having won the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League twice, Jose Mourinho got the chance to win the third UEFA Club Championship Trophy. Reaching the Champions Cup final in 1984, Roma lost to Serie A rivals Inter in the only European Cup final (the 1991 European Cup final), but he has a chance of winning his first major continental title in Tirana.

Winner of C1 in 1970, Feyenoord won the UEFA Cup in 1974 and 2002 and thus could become the first club to lift the current three cups from UEFA’s major club competitions. Arne Slot can count on the competition’s top scorer, Cyriel Dessers, who scored ten goals in the semi-finals but lost 3-2 on aggregate to Roma in their only previous meeting, in 16be 2014/15 UEFA Cup Final.

coaches statements

Jose Mourinho, Roma

When you work in Rome, you live in Rome, you breathe Rome and you breathe this club. From the day I signed it felt like a huge club, but without a few wins and finals. I’m so touched [à l’idée de jouer cette finale]. For us, this is the Champions League.

Arne slot, Feyenoord

Getting to the final takes a bit of luck at the right times, but this set definitely has quality, too. We made people proud, but it’s not over yet. The fans have always been proud of us, but I think we made them even more proud, and not just with our performance in Europe. But again, we haven’t won anything yet and we really want to get there.

What does the winner get?

The cup is 57.5 cm tall and weighs 11 kg, and is made up of 32 hexagons – each representing the teams participating in the group stage – that rotate from the base of the cup.

The winning team is entitled to 40 gold medals, and the runner-up gets 40 silver medals.

The winner also advances to the group stage of the 2022/23 UEFA Europa League, unless they qualify for the UEFA Champions League via the domestic league.
